Linda J. Hill, LCSW, DCSW, has conducted a clinical private practice for 25 years in Social Work with emphasis on individuals (adolescents & adults), couples, groups & families. One of the treatment modalities she uses is hypnotherapy. She also provides LCSW supervision.

Definition: hypnosis -

A phenomenon characterized by a person's ability to respond to appropriate suggestions by altering perception or memory; usually associated with the experience of behaving nonvolitionally. Factors determining the subject's responsivity include the nature of the preexisting relationship with the hypnotist, prior expectations, beliefs, and motivations concerning hypnosis and, most important, characterologic and individual differences.
